A logo design created for Niku Niku Butcher, a premium butcher shop based in Singapore.

The design aims to convey the quality and trust associated with a high-end butcher shop while preserving the approachable character of the brand name, “Niku Niku”. Drawing inspiration from the aesthetics of traditional Japanese family crests (kamon), I developed a distinctive symbol that balances elegance with familiarity.

The central motif features a bone-in cut of meat, chosen to communicate the nature of the business at a glance. By placing its silhouette within a hexagonal frame, the design creates a refined, structured composition reminiscent of a traditional Japanese crest.

To capture a sense of Japanese heritage without appearing overly traditional, the symbol uses minimal ornamentation, simplified forms and bold, confident lines. This approach brings together the brand's premium positioning and its welcoming personality.

Careful attention was also given to the overall proportions and negative space, ensuring that the logo remains recognisable and memorable, even from a distance. Its versatility was considered across various applications, including traditional Japanese noren curtains, shop signage and packaging.

By combining the timeless beauty of Japanese design with the clarity and adaptability required of a contemporary brand, the result is a distinctive visual identity that reflects Niku Niku Butcher's character while remaining approachable to customers in Singapore.
