A logo design created for Fujinoma, a Japanese accommodation located in Yamanashi Prefecture.
The design brings together the magnificent view of Mount Fuji from the property and the traditional Japanese architectural feature known as ranma (decorative transom panels), expressing both the distinctive landscape of the region and the beauty of Japanese heritage within a single symbol.
While Mount Fuji is an iconic and widely recognised motif, the aim was to create a calm, refined visual identity that reflects the unique atmosphere of the accommodation rather than the conventional imagery often associated with tourist destinations.
The symbol is composed to evoke a view of Mount Fuji framed by a traditional Japanese ranma. Its circular outline draws inspiration from the aesthetics of Japanese family crests (kamon), while traditional Japanese cloud motifs are incorporated at the foot of the mountain. Together, these elements capture the grandeur and tranquillity of nature within a balanced geometric composition.
Careful attention was given to line weights, negative space and overall proportions, creating a contemporary and sophisticated design while preserving a distinctly Japanese character.
The logo was also designed with versatility in mind, allowing it to complement various spaces and applications throughout the property, including traditional noren curtains, interior signage and printed materials.
By combining the beauty of Mount Fuji with the elegance of traditional Japanese architecture, the design aims to create a timeless and memorable brand symbol that conveys the tranquillity, refinement and distinctive experience of staying at Fujinoma.
