DESIGN STORY
I created the logo for Tiger Pudding, a pudding shop run by a husband-and-wife team in Munakata, Fukuoka.
The concept was built around the client’s wish to bring together “the beauty of old Japan” and “the Japan of the future”. I used the silhouette of a woman in kimono as the central motif to create a visual identity that bridges tradition and modernity.
To keep the design from feeling purely traditional, I incorporated an earphone into her hair ornament and introduced circuit-inspired lines into the kimono pattern. These details bring together the beauty of Japanese culture with subtle references to contemporary technology and culture.
The brand’s tiger motif is also hidden within the woman’s headpiece, adding a small element of discovery to the identity. The result is a logo that feels recognisably Japanese at first glance, while revealing more of the brand’s personality on closer inspection.
